Because fierce biblical women need their stories told
About Robin Cohn
As a kid, I wanted to be a feminist theologian, an archaeologist, and a writer. I found my calling by writing historical fiction about the remarkable women of the Bible using modern research methods. My academic training in Philosophy of Religion, with an emphasis in the Bible as Literature, provides a foundation for my writing. Thanks to my archaeological work, my extensive travels, and living in the Mediterranean and Near East, I’ve walked the same paths, breathed the same air, and touched the same stones as the characters in my novels. This intimate connection to the land and its history allows me to ground my writing in the sights, sounds, and textures of the places where my stories unfold.
About the Book Projects
Junia: The Forgotten Apostle
Two thousand years ago in Israel, Junia, a woman of noble lineage, lives in the tumultuous era of Roman occupation amidst the grandeur and intrigue of Herod Antipas’ court. Trapped in a loveless marriage, she falls prey to a demon. After Jesus casts out the evil spirit, Junia’s husband hears rumors that the itinerant preacher is an insurgent, and he divorces her to protect his reputation, leaving her disgraced. With nowhere to go, she joins Jesus and his disciples and dedicates her ample resources to funding his mission. Because she witnesses Jesus’ death and resurrection, Junia is honored with the title of apostle. But as her fellow apostle Peter schemes to seize her fortune and strip away her freedom, and the threat of the demon’s return haunts her, Junia must summon her inner strength to fight back—or risk losing herself entirely.
Judith: The Wise
2,700 years ago, the Assyrian Empire is the greatest political and military power on earth, stretching from ancient Mesopotamia in the east to present-day Turkey. Even after most of Israel’s population is slaughtered or deported, a remnant of their ancestral land remains defiant and insists on independence. In retaliation, the emperor sends his general, Holofernes, with an army of over 100,000 to plunder and destroy the sacred Temple. As the last stronghold defending the road to Jerusalem, Judith and her small hometown of Bethulia must stop the invading force, or the name of Israel will be erased from the face of the earth.
